BACKGROUND

Without a doubt, The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is one of the most powerful lobbies on Capital Hill. The enemies of Israel, however, inflate this into AIPAC, and by implication Jews, run the US government. In reality, AIPAC works to lobby for pro-Israel legislation and to educate legislators on issues related to the US-Israeli relationship. According to the New York Times, AIPAC is the most important organization affecting the US’s relationship with Israel.

Every year, AIPAC holds gala events throughout the Bay Area. Every year, the enemies of American and Israel and their relationship protest outside the East Bay event, often trying to harass event attendees. This year, there is more of an organized protest than ever before. Not only that, but they are bolstered by an article by two formerly respected professors claiming that “The Lobby” (capitalizations are from the authors) controls US policy and pushes US policy away from US interests and in favor of Israel. Despite the obvious use of anti-Semitic accusations and the disavowal of the paper by both of the professors’ universities, the enemies of the US and Israel have embraced their classical anti-Semitic theories whole heartedly.

EVENT DETAILS:

As we have done in previous years, Stand WithUs/SF Voice For Israel will be there to be sure the pro-Israel voice is represented. Furthermore, we help ensure attendees are able to enter the hotel unmolested. Fortunately, this year, police have promised to immediately arrest anyone who attempts to block the hotel entrance.

Whether or not you agree with AIPAC’s policies, please come join us. The protests typically are only nominally about AIPAC and mostly about demonizing Israel.

As always, feel free to make your own signs but please no signs or graphics offensive to any racial or ethnic group including but not limited to Arabs, Islam, or Palestinians. Signs in violation of our policies will not be allowed.

We strongly encourage those who are attending the event to stand with us before heading inside.

January 27, 2007 - Counterprotest in San Francisco

Another fringe group of protestors, having failed to learn ANSWER's lesson that Israel has nothing to do with the Iraq war, has decided to hold an "anti-war" protest in San Francisco on January 27 at 12:00 noon at Powell and Market Streets. Although they were informed that we would be there if they turned this into another anti-Israel event, they decided to do just that. We can expect the same group of Israel-haters to show up and chant their support for genocidal terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah.

BACKGROUND
Although The Bay Area Women in Black claim to be for
"peace" and have even endorsed the "Two State
Solution," their own statements, actions, and
associations tell another story.

Both the San Francisco and Berkeley sections of Women
In Black endorse the Palestinian "Right to Return" –
code for the demographic destruction of the Jewish
State – and they have hosted events calling areas even
within the "Green Line" (the 1948 armistice line with
Jordan) as
"occupied." Speakers at their events have even openly
endorsed violence and Women In Black led chants of
"Palestine Will Be Free/From The River to the Sea" at
a rally at the Montgomery BART station. Their
literature always presents Israel as an unprovoked
aggressor and never mentions, let alone condemns, the
incessant violence against the Jewish State. Women In
Black routinely stand with the most venomous
anti-Israel organizations and stand side by side with
the most vicious anti-Semites.

May 06, 2007 - Lag B'omer Bonfire

Many of our members have expressed a desire to have
some type of membership event for fun and for getting
to know each other. To that end, San Francisco Voice
for Israel will hold its first (annual?) Lag B'Omer
bonfire at Ocean Beach in San Francisco on Sunday May 6
from 6-8 PM. Please bring your own food; we will supply
drinks (San Francisco law prohibits alcohol on the
beach).

There are a number of bonfire pits along Ocean Beach
between Fulton Street and Lincoln Way and since they
are first come first served, we can't say exactly where
we are going to be. However, we will have our large
Israeli flags so we will be easy to find!
We would appreciate an RSVP so we know how much liquid
refreshment to bring, and whether the group will be
large enough (over 25 people) that we need to get a
permit ( we hope so!).
Dress warmly-- it may be very cool and foggy! We look
forward to having the opportunity to meet and talk with
many of you (away from the more hectic atmosphere of a
demonstration) !

Over the past four years over 4,000 rockets have been launched from Gaza. After Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, attacks have quadrupled and southern Israel is under siege. Each of the 4,000 rockets launched from Gaza was meant to kill, maim and terrorize. Following a prolonged period where Israel exercised restraint in the face of continuing assaults, Israel struck back at the militants terrorizing Israel’s cities and farms near Gaza to put an end to the assault on its citizens.

While all of the presidential candidates agree that Israel has the right to defend herself, International ANSWER and MECA has called for two anti-Israel demonstrations to protest Israel’s defensive actions in Gaza.

San Francisco Voice for Israel/Stand With Us will counter the anti-Israel/ pro-terrorism voice. We will bring Israeli and American flags, pro-Israel signs, and most importantly, the truth to counter the genocidal hate and lies of the anti-Israel groups. Our presence at these events has proven highly effective at countering their message and making sure that the anti-Israel activists can not push their propaganda on the public unopposed!
