Ongoing EventsWeekly Counter to Bay Area Women in BlackBay Area Women in Black are continuing their protests outside the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland. We have shown that as we stand up for Israel, Women in Black stands down. We need to keep the pressure on! 3200 Grand Avenue. 11:30 AM-1:00 PM, promptness is encouraged. Rally Cancelled in Event of Active Raining. Weekly Counter to Berkeley Women in Black in Berkeley Although Berkeley Area Women in Black claim to be for "peace" their own statements, actions, and associations tell another story. Berkeley Women In Black endorse the Palestinian "Right to Return" - code for the demographic destruction of the Jewish State - and they have hosted events calling areas even within the "Green Line" (the 1948 armistice line with Jordan) as"occupied." Their literature always presents Israel as an unprovoked aggressor and never mentions, let alone condemns, the incessant violence against the Jewish State. Women In Black routinely stand with the most venomous anti-Israel organizations and stand side by side with the most vicious anti-Semites. Every Friday from 12-1 PM at the corner of Bancroft Way & Telegraph Ave in Berkeley. Monthly Counter to San Francisco Women in Black We are also doing monthly counterprotests against San Francisco Women in Black. SF Women in Black hod a silent vigil the first Friday of each month in downtown San Francisco. The first Friday of every month outside the Montgomery BART station in downtown San Francisco, 5-6PM. Please note that this monthly protest will not occur next month, as the first Friday is the 4th of July. ![]() In Loving Memory Michael Bellefountaine, 1966-2007 Michael Bellefountaine was best known in the city as a radical AIDS activist, but like many of us, he became increasingly disgusted with the increasing Israeli bashing and anti-Semitism in the Bay Area. Consequently, in the last 3 years of his life, he brought his long experience in activism to the service of standing up for Israel and against anti-Semitism by being a key member of our organizing committee. We will sorely miss Michael, his enthusiasm, his gentle demeanor interrupted by sometimes outrageous actions during demonstrations, and most of all, his friendship. You can read his obituary here. |
